The City of Martinez accepts applications year-round from residents interested in serving on various Commissions, Committees and other Advisory Bodies ("commissions"). The commissions act as advisory groups to the City Council and are subject to the Brown Act.
By serving on a commission, members will help plan the future of Martinez by participating in the democratic process. Advisory to the City Council, commissions are an avenue for obtaining citizen input by gathering, analyzing and discussing information, and determining the community’s sentiment on a variety of topics. Ultimately, each commission makes recommendations to the City Council to take action.
To be considered, applicants must be 18 years old and reside within the incorporated limits of the City of Martinez. However, some commissions may have varied or different eligibility requirements. Eligibility and membership requirements are outlined under the description for each commission.
